Strawberry Tea Party

Decorations:

Let everything be centered around the theme of strawberries. It is so easy to find decorations in this theme. If you go to this web site, you can purchase table linens with strawberries. www.vermontcountrystore.com. I also found strawberry cloth napkins at www.uncommongoods.com. However, it is much less expensive to purchase the fabric and make napkins or just table toppers out of the strawberry fabric.

Centerpieces can be made just using clear glass bowls or compotes filled with strawberries.

Food and Beverage:

Some suggestions would be strawberry scones, strawberry shortcake, or strawberry parfaits. How about chocolate dipped strawberries? A nice tossed salad with added strawberries is always good too along with small tea sandwiches of your choice. Here is a good recipe for strawberry bread.

Strawberry Bread
2 large eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups sliced strawberries
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Coat a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan with vegetable spray.

In a large bowl, beat eggs until fluffy. Add oil and sugar and continue beating until light and airy. Add berries; stir and set aside.

In a medium bowl, combine remaining ingredients and stir well. Add dry mixture to egg mixture and mix well.

Spoon batter into pan and bake 50 to 60 minutes, until a toothpick stuck in the middle comes out clean.

Cool for 10 minutes, then remove from pan and finish cooling on a rack.

Makes One 9 x 5-inch Loaf.

And of course, you must have Strawberry Tea. This can be iced or hot. You can find this tea in most places that sell a variety of teas. Add a fresh strawberry to each glass of the iced tea.

Here is a recipe for another type of strawberry tea.

Almost Strawberry Snapple Iced Tea

Ingredients :
2 quarts (8 cups) water
3 Lipton tea bags (orange pekoe and pekoe cut black tea blend)
3/4 cup granulated sugar or one 16 ounce bottle light corn syrup
1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon strawberry extract

Instructions :
Boil the water in a large saucepan. When the water comes to a rapid boil, turn off the heat, put the tea bags into the water, and cover. After the tea has brewed about 1 hour, pour the sugar or sweetener into a 2-quart pitcher, then add the tea. The tea should still be warm, so the sugar or sweetener will dissolve easily. Add the flavoring ingredients (plus additional water if needed to bring the tea to the 2-quart line). Chill.

Yield: 2 quarts

Favors:

A good gift to give each one attending would be a jar of homemade Strawberry Jam. It is so easy to make and can be packaged in very small jelly jars. Look through the Tealightful recipes on this site for the recipe.
