Benefits Daily

When applying for a job at a new place of employment, one of the first concerns is with the benefits package.  Does it have good insurance? Will that include dental and vision?  Is there a retirement plan?  Is there a provision for sick days?  We really like to hear the vacation plan! All of these together help to attract and retain employees.

Psalm 68:19 profoundly declares: “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation.  Selah.”  What an awesome scripture that declares provision to God’s children!  First of all, I love that it says ‘daily’.  Not just every once in a while – daily!  This means day to day or constantly.  We cannot live and breathe without His daily benefits.

The second portion that commands my attention is the word ‘loadeth’.  That means full and running over.  God is not slack concerning His promises; He is generous with His blessings.
Benefits or blessings are bonuses.  It is vital that we do not take these privileges for granted but that we recognize they are advantages of the employee.  Often when a company is reviewing or renewing contracts, the benefits package is of utmost concern.  Comprehensive coverage takes care of the whole needs of an individual and uses many professionals working together to supply proper care.

God supplies care for the whole person – physical, spiritual and emotional – comprehensive coverage.  Although our main purpose in worshiping Him is because of WHO He is and not what He does, it would be an ungrateful individual who did not appreciate the benefits of serving Him.
We have an obligation to be thankful.

The lesson I learned since those days, it is not being at all, rather it is always becoming.  ‘Being’ suggests that one is always the same permanently, when in fact we are always becoming more of something.  We are still striving for the mastery! The reality is that the Lord is the only true Being----changeless, complete, whole, and permanently perfect in all ways.  He does not have to work at becoming something more….he is totally perfect

Psalm 107:1 reminds us, “O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.”  God’s mercy is a major portion of those daily benefits.  I am grateful!
