God urged us to pass our history down to our children telling them the important lessons we have learned in life. One of the greatest gifts that you can give to your children is to tell them your life’s story. Doing so will help them repeat your successes and avoid the mistakes that you have made (Joel 1:3). Give Your Children a Rich Inheritance! The home is the best place to train and encourage our children in the way they should go. Don’t wait…time keeps slipping into the future. Capture the power of your personal history and give it to your children. Sit down and tell them how you survived your childhood. It will mean so much to them.

We must desire to have the best knowledge and information available to inform our children in ways to be healthy, happy and strong for the Kingdom. The Book of “Life” is the Book for “Life”. It is the oldest and greatest reference book for life and health in our world today! Good nutritionists today are following similar guidelines laid down by Moses. Books and newspapers that teach us about eating go right back to the Bible.

There is a wealth of information regarding types of food in the Book of Life. In a nutshell it says that:

  • Simple foods are the healthiest! These include whole grains, fruits, vegetable and herbs. The Bible refers to simple foods as Servants’ food.
  • Rich and expensive foods such as heavy meats, creams fats and sweets are harmful to one’s overall health. The Bible refers to rich foods as Kings’ food. In Proverbs 23:3 they are called “deceitful dainties.” We call them doughnuts!

Valuable Lessons To Learn For A Rich Inheritance:

  • Introduce healthy foods to your children at an early age and it will be easier for them to value healthy living.
  • Be the example…don’t expect children to eat carrot sticks if you’re eating a chocolate bar.
  • Establish controlled times for snacks to be eaten at the table to keep children from overeating.
  • Remove pressure from children and do away with junk food in the home.
  • Replace junk food with something healthy that children can enjoy and they will not feel deprived.
  • Combat the “junk foods” your children will eat with friends 1-2 days a week by doing your best to prepare “good foods” at home 5 days a week.
  • Strive to eat 5 fresh colorful vegetables and 5 beautiful fruits a day (5+5).
  • Eat at home as much as possible preparing easy and quick to fix healthy family favorite meals along with a green salad.
  • Offer bottled water instead of fruit drink or sodas to thirsty children.
  • Make Smoothies…increases fresh fruit intake.
  • Teach your children to eat for strength. We must eat to live and not live to eat!
