Help Wanted:

No Experience Necessary

By: Rebekah Binkley Montgomery

Not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; And God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; (1 Corinthians 1:26b, 27)

Do you want to do something for God but feel, powerless and woefully inadequate? Do you have a history of failure? Congratulations! You are qualified!

You see, when it comes to picking people to work for Him, God has a sense of humor. And a sense of irony as well. For example:

He called a barren couple to parent a great nation. Their names were Abraham and Sarah.

He called a former murderer/fugitive to deliver His people from their slavery by the Egyptian superpower. His name was Moses.

God called a missionary who preached for nearly 600 years without a single convert to build an ark and save a remnant from destruction. His name was Noah.

He called a shepherd boy to slay a giant, write a beautiful collection of songs, AND become Israel’s greatest king. His name was David.

He called a motley collection of fishermen, tax collectors, and terrorists to bear witness of His Son’s resurrection and change the world. They were called the twelve apostles.

He called a Pharisee with a murderous grudge against the Church to be the Church’s greatest planter. His name was Paul.

He called a Babe born in a manger to be the Savior of the world, the King of Kings, and reign forever and ever. His name was Jesus.

Today, God is recruiting people to change the world. Whatever task God calls you to perform, if you are willing to go in His power, He will enable you. He will make you adequate, and He will give you success.

Remember this: God has a 6000-year track record of winning with long shots.
