With a Heart of Thanksgiving, I Will Bless Thee Oh Lord

In February, 2005, I was diagnosed with recurrent breast cancer after being free of the disease for 15 years. Needless to say, I was again devastated! The past 17 months have been a roller coaster of emotions, mentally, physically and spiritually. To say I have always been on the mountain top would be untrue.

However, I have rediscovered He is still my Friend, Provider and Healer. Scriptures or phrases of very old hymns have come to my mind and heart out of the blue to lift my spirit with encouragement and renewed faith. Support in the form of cards, e-mails or calls have also been an important source of inspiration on “down” days

On my night stand are pages of Scriptures about healing that I read for comfort and strength. Also, listening to worship choruses on tape provides an atmosphere to focus my mind and stay in His presence as I visit and commune with Him. Every sunset, beautiful skyscape and nature is a reminder of my Creator and brings calm and solace to my spirit.

I have considered myself healed, claimed and believed healing, but often receive negative reports from scans and tests. And although I am in continued treatment, my faith is in Him. He is the God of the impossible.

As another Thanksgiving season approaches, I am very thankful for the health, energy and strength I do have to care for the needs of my family. I am blessed to be able to continue ministering to needs of our congregation which gives me great fulfillment and satisfaction.

Our two beautiful granddaughters, my family and friends bring joy to my life and fills me with thanksgiving for them. With anticipation I look forward to the coming Christmas season because I have many reasons to celebrate.

Just days ago a quote on someone’s desk caught my attention that read: “The miracle of your existence calls for celebration everyday.” So I continue to celebrate life and His blessings. “I will bless the Lord at all times, His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”
