Betty’s Brownie Cake

2 cups flour

2 cups sugar

Mix these together and set aside.

 

2 sticks butter

1 cup water

3 ½ T. cocoa

Combine these in a saucepan and cook to a boil.

Pour over flour mixture, and blend well.

 

Add: ½ cup buttermilk

2 eggs unbeaten

½ t. salt

1 t. baking soda

 

Mix well and pour into a greased 12 x 18 inch pan.

Bake 20 minutes at 350°.

 

(I sometimes use a smaller pan and bake for 30 minutes.)

 

Frosting:

 

1 stick butter

1/3 cup buttermilk

4 T. cocoa

 

Bring to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in 1 box powdered sugar.

Add one teaspoon vanilla and ½ cup chopped nuts. (or nuts may be added on top last)

Spread frosting on cake when you remove it from oven while still hot.
