- Removes coffee stains from mugs
- Removes odor from a thermos or closed container. (Sprinkle with salt, cover, and let it sit overnight.)
- Cleans copper-bottom pans when added with white vinegar.
- Mix with vinegar and baking soda to open up a slow-draining kitchen sink. Let it sit for one hour, and then pour boiling water down drain.

- Get rid of puffy eyes by mixing 1 teaspoon of salt into 1 pint of hot water. Dip cotton balls into the solution, then lie down and apply to eyelids.
- To cleanse and tone skin, mix 1 teaspoon salt with olive oil and massage into face and neck. Then wash as usual.
- Great toothpaste is made from mixing pulverized salt with two parts baking soda. Keep in airtight container.
- Minor sore throat can be relieved with a warm saltwater gargle. One teaspoon of salt to 8 ounces water.

- Add ½ cup salt to wash cycle to prevent colored fabrics from running.
- Clean a sticky iron by turning to low and running it over a piece of paper covered with salt.
- Remove a fresh grease stain on fabric by covering it with salt. After it is absorbed, then brush away the salt. Repeat until spot is gone, then launder.
- To remove a rust stain from fabric, make a paste of vinegar and salt and spread on item. Lay out in the sun to bleach it.
