Creating a Family Gratitude Jar |
![]() |
|
An excellent way to start the new year is by creating a family gratitude jar in which each family member can participate. It can be as simple as an old Mason jar for the farmhouse style lover, an unused cannister, or a fancy pedestal candy dish. There are several printables on Pinterest, and Etsy even has some personalized jars available. Just find the perfect container that fits your family. Place a small notepad and a pen beside the jar or inside the jar. It can even be kept on a cute tray on the counter of your kitchen. Once a week at family dinner time, have each family member write down something for which he or she is grateful. It is easy to remember the major things in your life, but what about all the small daily blessings? Continue this throughout the year, and on New Year’s Eve read all the notes. You will be reminded of how good God has been to your family! We tend to take so much for granted, and this is an opportune way to focus on the many blessings bestowed upon us. Instead of making a New Year’s resolution, try emphasizing the untold daily blessings and displaying a heart of gratitude. Practicing gratitude evolves into an inner peace which offers happiness and joy. We all want that, don’t we? |
