Do’s and Don’ts of Weight Loss! |
|
DO eat breakfast: Breakfast eaters consume about 12% less fat and tend to be leaner. They tend to have diets that are more nutrient-rich in fiber. DO better baking: Substitute an equal amount of evaporated skim milk for heavy cream called for in a recipe. For every half-cup of oil or butter, substitute the same amount of applesauce, mashed banana or prune puree. Replace a whole egg with two egg whites. DO stop for a second: When you feel the urge to eat, say HALT! Ask yourself: Am I hungry, angry, lonely or tired? If you’re really hungry, eat mindfully. If it is something else, deal with it appropriately by seeking a calm place, good company or rest. DO treat yourself to chocolate. YES! Dark chocolate contains chemicals that may help protect against heart disease and cancer. It also could postpone some of the signs of aging. But indulge in moderation! DO treat all foods equally. DO have good snacks. DON’T label foods as “good” or “bad.” DON’T skip meals. DON’T weigh yourself more than once a week. Let your clothes be your “scale.” |
