Heirlooms and Legacies

Purpose of the event or idea:   "Heirlooms and Legacies" is an annual event to honor the senior ladies of our church family. Without their dedication and efforts our lives would be so different. It is our opportunity to bless them for blessing us.

The first year we asked five younger ladies to share special memories from growing up in our church. We also honored three ladies who had served faithfully in our nursery for a number of years.

Last year our theme was a "Spa Tea Da." A Mary Kay consultant came to treat the ladies to a spa treatment which included a foot soak and massage with lotion, herbal heated neck roll, soothing eye pads, lotion massage on their hands, and so forth. The women weren't obligated to buy anything. The consultant also gave away some door prizes. The women loved it!

Biggest challenge:  The biggest challenge is getting the younger women to participate. We ask the younger women to bring a dish for a "pot luck" meal in honor of the senior ladies.

Biggest reward: The biggest reward is the impact the event has on the older ladies. They are so appreciative and excited each year.
