Oh, the joy of Christmas! Enchanting twinkling lights bringing cheer, elegant or whimsical trees on display in the window or corner, memorable ornaments of sentiment, and the scent of cinnamon wafting gently in the air. We delight in the signs of Christmas and the anticipation it brings. In the eyes of a child, nothing is more exciting than the packages under the tree. As a young girl, I could not resist the intrigue of the wrapped gift. Daily lifting, shaking and exploring the package, I would try my best to discover its content without actually opening it. We are a wrapped package to the world around us and perhaps one of mystery. No matter how our package is wrapped, in simplicity or elegance, the inside should be easy to determine. Our demeanor is also an illuminating sign of our identity. We have been instructed to bear the precious fruit of the spirit which quickly reveals our heart. Galations 5:22-23 enlightens us by declaring, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” What kind of package are you portraying to those around you? Wrap it well in the beauty of the Lord. There is no need for disguise! When we are filled with His Spirit, goodness will flow from us and shine to our world. |
